CENTENARY EXHIBITION

Our 2012 Centenary Exhibition will be held at the Herbert Art Gallery in Gallery 4 from Saturday 13th October 2012 to Sunday 4th November 2012 with the private view on Friday 12th October from 6.30 pm to 8 pm.  The private view will be held on Friday 12thOctober from 6.30 pm to8 pm.  Drinks and nibbles will be served.

Presentations will be made at the private view, these include the Richard Gill Silver Salver, the Ralph Brassett Trophy, our current Presidents Award (although she hasn’t let on what that actually is yet!) and a Young Artists Bursary.  There will also be a prize for the most popular work voted for by the public.

A Time Line of the Society’s history over the past 100 years will be displayed, with hopefully a tip top catalogue, a continuous video and a super show of paintings and three dimensional pieces.  These will link with a selection of a dozen or so works from the archives of the Herbert, using the walls, plinths, shelves and four large panelogues that you will be able to walk though (rather like a Barbara Hepworth sculpture).

We are inviting all artists in the Society to take part and so there will be no submission fee charged, however, the Gallery will charge commission.  Exhibition submission forms will be sent out to you in March and are due back to Jacqui in May.  We would like you to submit two pieces of work and we are anticipating that at least one piece from each member will be shown.  Selection of work will take place at Leek Wootton Village Hall on Saturday and Sunday 16th and 17th June 2012.  Selection is happening so early as we have to fit in with the Herbert’s printing and publicity deadlines.  Handing in day to the Herbert Art Gallery with be either on either 6th or 7th October 2012.
