Art at the Loft Theatre

For more than 40 years, the Loft Theatre has hosted artists who wish to exhibit their work in the lounge areas of the theatre.  All are welcome to view the exhibitions, free of charge, when the theatre is open to the public during the run of a Loft production.

This month’s exhibition is shared by artists Jackie Terrett and Jacqui Smithson.

Jackie Terrett is a full-time figurative artist/painter, working in a wide variety of media. She has exhibited nationally, including in London, and has work in private collections in the UK and abroad.

Jackie spends her time between rural Leicester and North Wales. Much of her inspiration is gained from observing the effects the passage of time has on the landscapes which are familiar to her. Interests in the Celtic and early Christian traditions influence her multimedia works, along with more personal references, including elements of self portrait.  For more information visit Jackie’s website (see link below).

Jacqui Smithson is a mixed media artist working from her home in Kenilworth. She is inspired by the beautiful British coastline and many of her acrylic seascapes are based on areas of South Wales and Cornwall.

Alongside her painting Jacqui makes felt which she then embellishes with silks, stitch and all manner of threads to produce intricate ‘felt paintings’. She runs felt-making workshops in Kenilworth which are ever popular and great fun. Email JacquiSmithson@loft-theatre.co.uk for details of classes.

Jacqui will be exhibiting as part of Warwickshire open studios in the summer where you will be able to view a new body of her work.

She is also the exhibition seceretary for the Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists.
