Allan Owens

Born in Coventry Allan was accidentally introduced to art an early age after discovering an evening class at his local community college. The early years were spent exploring techniques in watercolours and acrylics mainly working on landscapes. Upon leaving school he decided to join the Royal Navy, with no place to carry around large amounts of artists materials he had to switch to pencil drawings. During this time he discovered a love of drawing the natural world and completed many sketches of animals.

Allan moved back to Keresley in Coventry with his family, inspired by the local green spaces he restarted his artistic journey. His first pieces were acrylic on slate roof tiles which he sold at local craft venues to help fund his hobby. After much encouragement from his artistic friends he exhibited work at Warwickshire open studios, this gave him the confidence to start looking for other local exhibitions to exhibit his work. Allan now works mainly in acrylic on canvas and pencil work, he still has a love for the natural world which is reflected in his art work. Allan has sold work around the British Isles and has recently shipped work to the USA and Canada.
